

Walter Guziewicz, a long term resident of New Britain, CT, died Thursday evening at the age of 90. He was born in Poland in 1924. The family was deported to Siberia at the commencement of WWII, later to reunite in the United States. He fought in the Polish Army under General Anders under British command. He participated in the battle for control of the abbey at Monte Cassino. Upon arriving in the United States from London, he moved to New Britain and as a lover of music and singing, he co-founded the Polonia Paderewski choir. He was also a member of the Rysy Ski Club, president of the Falcon Club Soccer team, a realtor/broker, and a huge fan of soccer. He loved animals, especially horses. He leaves behind three adult children, Renata, Joanna, and Andrzej, and a step daughter Marzena. He has five grandchildren, Alixandra, Alana, Anna, Shannon, and Daniel, and also several great grandchildren. He was married to Wieslawa Guziewicz, who predeceased him and Danuta Guziewicz. Born in Kostopol, Poland in 1924, he leaves behind two sisters, Kasia Ostromecki and Jadzia Ciesielski, and brother-in-law Waldemar Ciesielski. He was predeceased by siblings Czeslaw Guziewicz, Helena Olesiak, and Francziszek Guziewicz. His parents were Jozef Guziewicz and Leokadia Guziewicz (née Zaremba).
