

William B. Shea Jr. of New Britain, CT born February 16, 1927 in East Hartford, CT died March 3, 2012 on his 61st wedding anniversary. He lived in New Britain with his wife Carol. He was graduate of East Hartford High School in 1945. In 1946 he was drafted into the US Air Force serving on Okinawa until his release in 1947. He worked for the Aetna Life Insurance Co. in 1948. He attended the University of Hartford on his return and graduated in 1949 with an associates degree in Business Administration. He was recalled to service in 1950 with the 43rd Division National Guard Band. He trained at Camp Pickett, VA and served as an accounting records technician at Fort Mead Maryland. He was discharged in 1951 as a Staff Sergeant. Upon his return he joined International Business Machine as an accounting machine specialist also attending the University of Hartford evening’s receiving a BS degree in Business Administration in 1957. In 1955 he left IBM to join the Stanley Works where he was employed for 13 years in the capacity of industrial engineer, cost supervisor, and production specialist. In 1968 he joined the Putnam, Coffin and Burr division of Advest as Senior Investment Advisor for 38 years in New Britain and Farmington, later serving in a similar capacity at AG Edwards Farmington office in 2006 until retirement. He was a member of the New Britain Republican town committee as 5th district chairman for 40 years. He served the City of New Britain on the Board of Tax Review, Board of Compensation and Assessment and on the Board of Finance and as Justice of the Peace. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church since 1956. He was past president of the Mr. and Mrs. Club and took part in the 1980’s paint-a-thon. He was predeceased by his father, William B. Shea Sr., his mother Elizabeth Shea Krips, and his brother Daniel Shea of South Windsor, CT.
He is survived by his devoted wife Carol, his daughters Elida DeLuca, her Husband Frank, Carol Mills, her husband Richard, Kathryn Frascona, her husband Charles and his son William B. Shea III and his wife Susan. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, who where his pride and joy,, Frank and his wife Andrea, Kristin and Matthew DeLuca, Craig and Luke Mills, Kelly Frascona, and Daniel R. Shea, Joseph and Michael Madera.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 6, 2012 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
