July 25, 1925 – December 29, 2024
Władysław Lenczewski, 99, of New Britain, passed away at the Hospital of Central Connecticut on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Konstancja and Antoni Lenczewski. In 1965, he emigrated to the United States settling in New Britain, securing employment and housing for himself and his family who joined him one year later. Władysław worked in the manufacturing industry first at Atlantic Machine Tool where countless other new Polish immigrants first attained jobs upon arriving in the U.S., and eventually retiring from Fafnir Bearing. Władysław was a tailor by trade in Poland and he continued to use his skills deep into his retirement by altering clothes for friends and family as well as sewing suits and coats for himself and his children. After spending long hours indoors both as a tailor and then as a factory machine operator, once he retired, he was happiest spending time outdoors. His impressive backyard garden with his prized tomatoes was a point of pride for him. And his grandchildren benefited directly from the tons of raspberries he picked for them all summer long.
He is survived by his three children, their spouses and grandchildren, Donna (Robert) Riccini of Newington, Jerry (Halina) Lenczewski of Bristol, Jan (Anna) Lenczewski of New Britain; his grandchildren Mark (Heather) Riccini, Gary (Chris) Riccini, Diana (Bill) Lenczewski, Matthew, Stephen, Magdalena, and Anthony Lenczewski, and great-grandchildren Nico and Luca Riccini. He is also survived by his niece Iwona (Zbyszek) Sadowski and his brother-in-law Edward Czapla as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Władysław was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Janina, all five of his siblings, his grandson Christopher Lenczewski and his great-grandson Braeden Riccini.
