Wladyslawa “Gladys” (Krzyzanowski ) Smolen, 83 died on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Hospital of Central CT. She was born in Poland and was a long time resident of Newington. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and retired from Wire Mold Co.She was a loving mother and grandmother, enjoyed reading, history and gardening but her greatest joy was being with her family and friends.She was the widow of Stanley Smolen and is survived by her beloved daughters with their families, Halina Wisniewski and her husband, Bogdan of North Granby; Irene Abrams of Wisconsin and Mary Stoddard of Seymour. She is also survived by her grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Christopher Wisniewski; Julia Ward; Rachael Abrams: Rebecca Abrams Trampe; Michael Abrams: Wilbur Stoddard and Jessica Johnson. She leaves four great grandchildren, a brother Frank in Poland and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will begin Monday, October 4, 2010 at 8:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church.. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their last respect on Sunday October 3, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home (directions: I-84, right off exit #37, 1 ½ miles on right).
