Alice Jean Curley

Alice, a Bronx, NY, native was born in NY, NY, to County Tyrone’s finest, John and Bridget McDermott. From her first day until her last, Alice was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. Alice attended St John’s and Sacred Heart of Mary schools, NYC. Alice became a communication technician for The NY Telephone Co. Alice married the love of her life, John “Jack” Curley, and moved their young family to Valley Cottage, NY. Alice is survived by her three sons, John(Connie), Thomas(Eileen) and Joseph(Julie), nine grandchildren, Gabriele, Gillian, Tommy, Caralyn, Erin, Brendan, Jack, Declan and Liam. Alice is also survived by her sister, Mary Guilfoyle, brother John McDermott(Valerie), sister in-laws Grace McDermott, Irene Curley, brother in-law Michael Curley as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her brother Thomas, brother in-laws James Guilfoyle, William Curley and Thomas “ Frank “ Curley, sister in-laws Mary McDermott, Joan Curley as well as Marie, Donna and Edna Curley.

Alice’s greatest pleasure was anything involving her family and friends, including but not limited to playing bingo at St Pauls, cheering her sons and grandchildren on at their games, road trips to Yankees stadium( never missed a game on tv ), enjoying the yearly St Patricks Day parades, a winning scratch-off and of course her ladies luncheons. Alice loved her glass of wine and of course dessert was her favorite meal of the day, earning her the nickname “ Creampuff “ from her grandchildren. Alice was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St Paul’s, the St Paul’s Lunch Lady Coalition, VP of the Eastern Rockland Biddy Lunch Committee as well as the Clarkstown Seniors. Alice was a tremendous presence in so many lives, she will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

A visiting for Alice will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins, 321 S. Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Pauls, 82 Lake Rd, Congers,, Congers, NY 10920. A burial will occur Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 12:15 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet,, Nanuet, NY 10954.
