Anna Rosemarie Saksen (née Ciccia) of Port Charlotte, Florida entered into eternal rest on February 12, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1936 in New York City, New York. She was predeceased by her husband William D. Saksen Jr. of 51 years.
Anna was born in the Bronx and married her high school sweetheart William D. Saksen Jr. in 1958. They moved to New City, New York where they raised their four children. She was an active member of the community, serving as a volunteer for the local church and participating in the Red Hat Society. Anna also loved anything related to the arts, and all of her family’s houses had one of her paintings in them. She played piano beautifully and loved to knit and crochet, producing so many blankets that she began donating them to the local hospitals. An avid card player, Anna played Bridge as often as possible, though she adamantly refused to teach it to any of her children or grandchildren. She did ensure all of them knew how to properly shuffle, however, along with many other card games which she was always ready to play.
Anna is survived by her four children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and her sister and will be dearly missed by them all. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years and two grandsons.
A visitation for Anna will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956.
