Carole A. Dowd

Carole A. Dowd passed away on October 24, 2011 with her loving family by her side. She was 69 years old. Carole was born on June 28, 1942 in New York City to Charles and Marion (nee Geagan) Sargent. She has lived in Rockland County since 1977, prior from Chester, NY and Inwood, NYC. She worked as a secretary for the Clarkstown Central School District since 1992 and just recently retired in 2010. Carole was a loving woman and homemaker whose greatest joys came from being with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed having each and every one of them around her while cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and she especially enjoyed her favorite time of the year, Christmas.

Carole is survived by the love of he life, Thomas, who is a retired Lieutenant for the NYPD; her loving sons, Thomas from Palatine, IL, Michael (Christine) from Bronx, NY, Dennis (Theresa) from Pomona, NY, Patrick, from New City, NY and Brendan from New York, NY; her brother, Charles (Nancy) Sargent from Franklin, TN; her mother-in-law, Kathleen; and her cherished grandchildren, Anna and Tommy.

Family may receive friends Today and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at St. Augustine's Church in New City at 10am, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
