

Catherine M. Coleman of Bardonia, NY passed away on October 20, 2015. She was born in New York City on April 14, 1930 to John Lynch and Catherine (Mullaney). She was a resident of Bardonia since 1975 and prior to that was a resident of the Bronx, NY. She married Jerry Coleman in 1956 at St. Benedict’s Church in the Bronx. She received her Nursing degree from Bellevue Hospital in New York City in the early 50’s and was employed by the NYC Hospital System for over 40 years. She was an active volunteer at People to People in Nanuet and was a CCD teacher and parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church. She also volunteered for United Hospice of Rockland and her greatest joy was in helping people and volunteering.
Catherine is predeceased by her husband Jerry in 2002 and brothers Billy, Jimmy and Tommy. She is survived by her son Gerard (Beth) of Bardonia; daughters Patricia (Thomas) Ryan of Pearl River, Kathleen (Frank) McCabe of Pearl River; brothers John and Edmond Lynch; sisters Mary Mullarkey, Bernice O‘Connell and Terri Lynch as well as 9 grandchildren: Michael, Luke and Shane Coleman; Danny and Neil Ryan; Kayla, Emma, Frankie and Jessie McCabe.
Family will receive visitors on Friday from 2-5 & 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10am, St. Anthony’s Church, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to People to People, 121 W. Nyack Road, #1, Nanuet, NY 10954.
