Daniel was born in NY, NY on May 8, 1922 to the late Michael and Rose (nee Marotta) Fanelli.
A sergeant in World War II, Daniel worked as a topographical engineer. A director/producer for WJAR TV in Providence, RI, Daniel ultimately moved to NY and worked and retired as director of ABC's Eyewitness News, also winning an Emmy Award for the show "Like It Is."
Throughout his life, Daniel schooled himself in the "art" of golf, avidly playing as often as he could. During his retirement days, Daniel could be seen working at the New York Country Club in New Hempstead, NY. Passing on his love of the game through conversation, coaching, and lessons, he was proud to say, "I shot my age, a score of 77 at age 77!" You could always find him at the 19th hole, his faithful four-legged friends by his side, socializing and celebrating the day.
Spouse of Elizabeth (nee Rinato) for 67 years, Daniel leaves behind three sons, Daniel of NY, Christopher of NJ, and William and his wife Judy of NJ.
Proud grandfather of DJ (deceased), Angela (Mike) of NY, William and Michael of NJ, as well as one great-grandchild, Annabelle Rose, and several nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces. Daniel was pre-deceased by his sister, Josephine Amato, and his two brothers, Frank and Michael Fanelli.
