

Edward J. Rusiecki, age 92, of Pearl River, NY passed quietly away on January 12, 2015. He lived in Pearl River for 18 years. Previously, he lived in Harrington Park, NJ.He was born in Manhattan to Julia and Jacob Rusiecki on February 2, 1922. In November, 1942, he joined the Army where he was a photographer of the fallen at Normandy. He was in the 175 Signal Corp. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal. He married Michelina (Maggie) Mucciolo, the love of his life, on February 13, 1949. They added to their little family with the birth of a son, Edward in 1950. He worked also as a member of IBEW Local 3 as an electrician and did work on the mayor's mansion in New York City. He continued to be a ham radio operator for over 30 years and still had an active license when he died. Eddie and Maggie enjoyed many happy years together (66!) until she passed away in August, 2014.He was also predeceased by his parents, and his siblings: William and his wife, Elsie, his sister, Sophie and her husband, Steve Olonko, Chester and Bernard. He leaves behind his devoted son, Edward, daughter-in-law, Laura, grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas and Kristen Rusiecki, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Friday, January 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 10 am at St. Augustine's Church in New City. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
