In 1950, Elba was born to Minerva and Luis Rosado in Comerio, Puerto Rico. At the age of 2, she along with her family moved to The Bronx, NY. Elba was one of five children. She is survived by her mother, Minerva Viana, her sisters, Lydia Rosa, Rosaura Rosado, Maria Rosado and her brother, Louis Rosado. She leaves to mourn her precious children; her daughters Amanda Orta, Alexis Mancuso and Angela Alvarez; her son, Joshua Alvarez, her son-in-laws, David Orta and Leonard Mancuso; her daughter-in-law, Jaclyn Alvarez; and her 9 grandchildren; David Orta Jr., Alexa Orta, Kira Zayas, Alexander Mancuso, Evan Orta, Noah Alvarez, Sofia Mancuso, Daniela Mancuso and Luciana Mancuso.
Elba graduated from Walter High School. She was always studious and artistic with the most incredible penmanship. Although she never fulfilled her dream of attending medical school, she had a passion for helping others. Before taking on the hardest role as a full-time stay-at-home mother, she worked in the Customer Service Department of RCA, in the Loan Department at Citibank and as an Interpreter of the New York City Court System. In 1971, she met her husband Angelo at El Corso Nightclub where they bonded over their mutual love for Orchestra Broadways Charanga. They married in 1973 at La Hermosa Church in Manhattan. After briefly living in Riverdale, they bought their home in New City, where they went on to raise their four children, and enjoyed over 48 blessed years together.
Elba had a heart of gold. She genuinely cared for others. Her sincerity made it easy for everyone around her to engage in conversations. She detested cooking, but had a love for culinary’s finest foods, and thus, had mastered the art of making reservations. She was charming, witty, sassy, and was never afraid to share her feelings. She knew it all. If there was ever any doubt, or if you had any questions you needed an answer to, she was always the person you would turn to for information. She was the life of every party and the joy of her children’s lives. We will miss her dearly. Until we meet again Mom...
