

In Loving Memory of Eleanor T. Gallagher December 6, 1932 – March 24, 2025
It is with deep love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Eleanor T. Gallagher (née Tuck), who passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on March 24, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on December 6, 1932, in New York City, Eleanor lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, friendship, faith, and hard work. Her warmth, independence, and quiet strength touched all who knew her.
She began her career at Hearst Publishing, where she proudly held her first job and where she met her loving husband Michael P. Gallagher. She later worked in retail in the Bradlees and Sears Department stores where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. In 1959 Eleanor and Michael married and moved to New City, NY where they built a joyful life filled with wonderful experiences with family and incredible friendships. Michael preceded her in death in 2019.
Family was always at the heart of Eleanor’s life. She was a proud mother, devoted grandmother, and loving great-grandmother who never missed a chance to show her support, offer her wisdom, or spend meaningful time with her loved ones. She was a deeply involved grandmother who never missed a school play, recital, game, or celebration, and was a constant, loving presence throughout her grandchildren’s formative years.
Her faith was a steady foundation throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Augustine’s Parish in New City, NY for many years, where she found strength, purpose, and lasting friendships.
She also cherished the company of her friends and found great joy in their many trips, interesting conversations, and lots of laughter. Having lived in New City for many years, Eleanor formed strong and enduring connections within her community.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Michael Gallagher (Kathleen), Kelly Neeck (Edward), and Timothy Gallagher (partner Phyllis); her grandchildren: Matthew Gallagher (Kaitlin), Katherine Monteith (Robert), Kyle Neeck (Stephanie), Connor Neeck (Allison), and Brianne Morales (Austen); and her great grandchildren: Finn, Maeve, Aubrey, Jack, and Ellie. She is also survived by her grand-nephews Ryan and Brendan Zohar and grand-niece Lindsay Zohar.
Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY, on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church in New City on at March 31,2025 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
She will be remembered for her strength, faith, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
