Enrico D Montesa

Enrico D. Montesa, Sr., 87, of New City, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on February 10, 2017.He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Remedios L. Montesa, and children Ramona L. Montesa, Enrico L. Montesa, Jr. & wife Mavis Alforque Montesa, Ruth L. Montesa & husband David Testerman, Rebecca L. Montesa & husband Chi-Lon Wong and Raquel Montesa Mierswa & husband Martin Mierswa.Enrico was a cherished grandfather of Deborah, Dylan, Daniel and Dawson Montesa, Emily, Casey and Nicholas Wong and Natalie Mierswa. He was born in Romblon, Philippines to US Army Captain Atilano Montesa and Francisca Molina Montesa. Enrico is survived by his sister Carmelita, and numerous nieces and nephews, and predeceased by his brothers Rodolfo, Armando and Atilano.

Enrico graduated from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and worked at various projects including the construction of the Veterans Hospital in Manila and various roads in Romblon and Mindanao. He was also the harbor engineer for the ports of Takoradi and Tema in Ghana, West Africa. Enrico was also an inspection engineer on the Saw Mill River Parkway for the engineering firm of Andrews & Clark.

He was a devoted father and enjoyed traveling with his family to countries in Africa, Europe and Asia. Enrico is also an avid fan of classical music and military history, in particular the Battle of Bataan where his father was killed in action while in command of a combat engineer battalion in World War II. He was an active member of the St. Augustine Church in New City.

A visitation is scheduled for this Friday, February 17 from 3-7 pm at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956

Before the burial, a funeral mass will be conducted at the Ascension Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, February 18 at 10 am. Ascension Cemetery is located at 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY 10952.
