Gilbert Charles Heim

Gilbert Heim of New City, at the age of 84 passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on September 22, 1937 in Jersey City. The son of Theresa and William Bright.  He graduated from Memorial High School and married the love of his life, Loretta Maraia on February 13, 1960. They were blessed with 5 loving children. Gilbert proudly served 2 years in the United States Army in San Antonio, Texas.

He worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 363 for 35 years.  Gilbert was a practicing catholic who volunteered his time by driving seniors to church and to their doctor’s appointments.  His greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time on the beach, listening to music

and working on small jobs.

Gilbert was survived by his beloved wife, Loretta: his 5 children, Gil (Eileen),John (Michele), Annie (Matt), Thomas (Larinda), Michael (Luisa),  grandchildren,Gil, Nick (Meghan), Jenna, Amanda, , Tyler, Danny, Madison, Samantha, Derek, Anthony, Jerry, Nicky, Paige, and great-grandson, Christopher, his sister,

Dolores Gorman and many nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Timmy Heim.

Family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4-8 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service, New City, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday at 10 am at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.  Donations can be made in Gilbert’s honor to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New
