

Our beloved Gisele M Damas passed on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, who provided her with love and support. Gisele's passing marks the end of a remarkable and eventful life, filled with resilience, compassion, and a strong spirit. Gisele Damas was born on October 20th, 1934 in Petion-Ville, Haiti to Victorine Lacrete and Fernand Damas. She was one of ten children, and from a young age, she displayed determination and a fighting spirit. She supported so many along the way, never forgetting to say thank you to God. Her faith played a very important role in her life, and she carried the Lord in her heart everywhere she went. She was tenacious, strong, assertive, respectful, well-organized, and patient. At the age of 13, she went to work to help the family. She washed clothes by hand, and hung and ironed them precisely for the local police department. She taught herself many skills, embodying a strong work ethic and a dedication to self-improvement. She became a source of inspiration and support for many. She gave birth to five children. Gisele immigrated to Spring Valley, New York, and became a US citizen in 1994. She worked many jobs to support her family, friends, and others in need. Her love of life and feisty nature kept her until the very end. She was known for her sarcastic sense of humor and wittiness. Her final years were spent at Hyenga Lake in Nanuet, New York, watching Shekinah, doing word searches, and caring for her herself, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She is survived and loved by her brothers, Cipryan Lynch and his son Clifford, and Yves Lacrete and his wife Yanick and his children Rubens, Hashley, and Leah, her children, Dieuline St. Germain, Lionel Michaud, his wife Sylvie Michaud, and her daughter Nancy Haggerty and her husband John J. Haggerty, her grandchildren, Sherly Jeanty, Marie Hélène Michaud, Alexander Jude Damas, Princess Judy Damas, Willems Jude Damas, Stephan Corey Michaud, Jacques Michaud, Ashley Paris, Marcline St. Germain, John C. Haggerty, Giselle M. Haggerty, her goddaughter Florence, and her step-granddaughter Beatrice St. Germain, her great-grandchildren, Zakariah St. Louis, Makayla Olivia Michaud, Fabiola Arielle Francois, Arianna Willow Francois, Jered Willems Malivert, Jaylon Willems Malivert, Jevon Arthur Surin, Jasher Michaud, Jehiel Michaud, Jasiel Michaud, Skyla R. Quetant, Zayan K. Quetant, and her friends. She fought a valiant fight. She will never be forgotten, and she will always stay in our hearts. Her legacy will endure through the memories and values she imparted to those whose lives she touched. Gisele Damas' passing is a loss to her family, friends, and community. Her tenacity, strength, and patience will be remembered, and her memory will continue to inspire others to live life with vigor and gratitude.
A wake for Gisele Damas will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main Street New City NY 10956. A Funeral Mass will occur on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM at the French Speaking Baptist Church, located at 80 N. Madison Ave, Spring Valley, NY 10977. Followed by a burial at 221 Brick Church Rd Spring Valley, NY 10977 .
