James Gilroy has entered faithfully into eternal rest. He is survived by his children Jim (Joanne), Patricia (Jeffrey), Kathleen (Jim), and John (Denise), plus his sister Ann Gigantelli and cousin John Deering. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Phyllis, just three weeks prior, as well as siblings Charles, Theresa, and Thomas. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Raised in New Jersey, Jim brought his growing family to Rockland in 1959 where he was a fixture at St. Augustine’s parish, affording him friendships with clergy and parishioners that lasted a lifetime.
Visitation will be at Michael J. Higgins funeral home, 321 South Main Street, New City NY 10956 on Monday February 19th from 4-6 pm.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 140 Maple Avenue in New City on Tuesday February 20th at 10:00 am with internment at St. Anthony’s cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
