John William Coyle Jr.

John W. Coyle Jr. of New City, NY, 94 years old, died peacefully on February 3, 2026. He is survived by his son, John Coyle (wife Theresa), his daughter Katherine Mistele (husband Bill), and his beloved granddaughters; Sarah Mistele, Carolyn Benson (husband Tyler) and Charlsey Coyle. He is predeceased in death by his cherished wife of 67 years, Janice, his parents John and Mildred Coyle, and his brother Douglas Coyle.

John was born in Nyack, NY and lived for the past 92 years in New City. He graduated from Nyack High School and Southern Methodist University before joining the Army and then working in the insurance/real estate industry at Coyle and Coyle, Inc. John married his childhood sweetheart, Janice Lohren, in 1957. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family. An active volunteer for multiple community organizations, John dedicated a great deal of his time to the New City Fire Department where he served for nearly 70 years. John was an active member at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New City.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday February 27, 2026 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 365 Strawtown Road, New City, NY. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s on Saturday February 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
