

Born in Queens on June 18, 1938 to Catherine (Spencer) and John Daly. John grew up in Rego Park and attended Resurrection-Ascension School. John won an academic scholarship to Xavier High School in Manhattan and was a proud Son of Xavier in the Class of 1956. John also received Bachelors and Masters degrees at St. John’s University.
John married the love of his life, Eileen (Clune), in June 1963. He is survived by his wife and their four children, Eileen (Mike Sapraicone) of Upper Brookville, NY, Patrick (Jeanne) of Pearl River, NY, John (Sue) of Congers, NY, and Jimmy of Manhattan, NY. John is also survived by his five grandchildren, Lindsay, Maris, Victoria, Andrew and Abby and five step grandchildren, Christina, Melissa, Michael, Victoria and Ashley, along with three great-grandchildren.
John is also survived by his sister, Dr. Jane Daly, sister-in-law Rosanne Daly and her children Sean and Joanna, sister-in-law Patricia Clune (Sal) and friend like a brother “Uncle” Peter Mancuso and was predeceased by his parents and his brother David.
John was a chemist in a variety of functions and he also taught at Brooklyn College. John worked at Union Carbide, Electro-Nucleonics, Pharmacia, and with the City of New York.
After retiring, John assisted his wife, Eileen, in the “family business” as a real estate broker with Rand Realty.
John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His dry wit and “mind like a steel trap” will be dearly missed. He loved, above all, time with his family including vacationing at Long Beach Island and at the "beach house" in Blufton, South Carolina.
Visitation will take place at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, New York on Tuesday, January 16th from 7pm - 9pm and Wednesday, January 17th from 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm. A funeral mass will take at St. Augustine’s Church, 114 Main Street, New City, New York on Thursday, January 18th at 10am with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
