Obituario de John J Dickson
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc.

John Dickson, 87, of New City, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Born on June 8, 1938, in Brooklyn, John grew up on Willis Avenue in the Bronx and attended St. Pius Parochial School. In 1956, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving with distinction aboard the USS Waller until his honorable discharge in 1960. He went on to serve the city he loved as a member of the New York City Police Department and later as a Sanitation Police Investigator, retiring in 1983.

In 1965, John married Mary Maloney, and together they raised three daughters. He was a proud Yankees fan, a founding member of the Irish Cultural Center in Blauvelt, and happiest when spending time with his nine treasured grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving daughters Deirdre (Frank), Claire (Paul), and Nancy (Owen); and his adored grandchildren Timmy, Kelly, Matthew, Daniel, Tara, Colin, Ava, Maeve, and Brendan. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary.

An intimate memorial service and burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bridges of Rockland/The Veteran’s Dwyer program. https://donorbox.org/bridgesrc

John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
