

Juana Aleja Guzman of Valley Cottage, New York, 94 years old, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2021. Juana, born on March 30, 1927 in Villa Gonzalez, Dominican Republic, moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1960 and worked for many years as a seamstress and a senior caregiver before her retirement in 1992. She moved to Valley Cottage in 2010. She enjoyed baseball, gardening, and practicing her Catholic faith, but her greatest joys came from her family. While she never married or had children of her own, she was the matriarch of the Guzman and Lantigua families, raising and caring for her many nieces and nephews as her own. All who knew her lovingly referred to as “Titi”. She is survived by her sister Guadalupe Lantigua Guzman, her niece Anabelle Rivera, and her grandniece and nephew Alexandra and Martin Rivera. She is also survived by her niece Maritza Lantigua, nephew Frankie Lantigua, and many other nieces, nephews, and great grandnieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-7 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10am, at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment in Gethsemane Cemetery at Rockland Lake Park in Congers, NY.
