

He was born in Knockcroghery, Roscommon, Ireland on September 9, 1927. He was the son of Jim and Delia Donoghue. He is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Maureen Campion Donoghue, his three children; Jim, Maura, and Mike, his daughter in law Robyn, and his three grandchildren, Ella, Taylor, and Michael and their mother Kassie Donoghue. He is also survived by his sister Anita, his sisters-in-law Gerrie Garvey, Kathleen Donoghue, and Caroline Campion, and brothers-in-law Ed Campion, Anthony Garvey, and Eamon Martin. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Maureen, Christine, and Katherine and his brothers Jimmy, Eamon, Kevin, and John.
He came to New York in 1949 and spent seven years working as a crane operator in the gold fields in Alaska. He returned to New York in 1958 and was a proud member of Local 891- Operating Engineers. He retired from the NYC Board of Education as a Custodian Engineer at Brandeis High School. He was the most talented man who could do carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, etc. and never had a mechanic fix anything in his home. He did it all and his mind was always planning his next project.
He was an usher at St. Francis of Assisi Church, spent many years helping Boy Scout Troop 428 and enjoyed his membership in West Nyack II Seniors where he met many wonderful friends.
He and Maureen traveled the world visiting all 7 continents, 55 countries, and all 50 states. He will be missed by his dogs Jack and Fynn, who he spoiled rotten.

Visiting will be held at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Thursday, September 29 from 7-9pm, and Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack at 11am. Entombment will follow at a later date.
