Marcella E. Fortune

Marcella Eileen Fortune (nee Monahan) passed away April 22, 2015 in Rockland County, NY after a long illness. Born in Jersey City, NJ on January 29, 1945, Marcella was the beloved daughter of John and Helen Monahan and sister of Dennis, all deceased. Marcella met and married Ray Fortune of New Milford NJ and became the “adopted” daughter of Rita and Willie Fortune, Ray’s parents, who regarded her as the daughter they always wanted but never had. Marcella is survived by sons Peter and Robert Fortune and daughter Eileen Macklin and their spouses Martine, Michelle and Morris. She also had to leave her truly beloved grandchildren Alexis, Julianna, Ashley, Tyler and last (but certainly not least) Tara. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Her struggles here are over and she now lies in the bosom of her God and family. Rest in peace, Marcella, you have run the good race and are deserving of eternal reward. Family will receive visitors on Saturday (April 25th) and Sunday (April 26th) at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will take place at St. Paul’s Church at 10am on Monday, April 27 in Congers, NY with internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY to follow.
