Marilyn Francis Ryan of New City passed away with her family at her side on September 2, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born in the Bronx on August 4, 1931 to Philipp and Marion Lutz Kramer and was a resident of New City for 58 years. She met her husband, James P. Ryan, while working as an administrative assistant at General Motors and they were married for 48 years until Jim’s death in 2003.
Marilyn was active in the community volunteering at Jawonio to help disabled children for 11 years, a member and former registrar of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists and enjoyed being a part of the New City Senior Citizens Club. She was active in her parish of St. Augustine Roman Catholic church for 58 years where she was a member of several ministries for many years. However, her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two sons James and his wife Diane, and Robert and his wife Alicia, grandchildren Meghan Ryan, James Ryan and his wife Heather, Shannon Ryan, her great grandson Treyten Hemmingsen, her sister-in-laws Dolores Kramer and Margaret Ryan, nephews Philipp Kramer Jr and his wife Lynne, Edward Kramer and his wife Debra and nieces Elizabeth Kramer, Patty Jablonski, Rosemary Stanton and Barbara Lammers. Marilyn was predeceased by her brother Philipp Kramer. She was devoted to her family and we can’t begin to express how much she was loved and will be missed.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home in New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, September 8 at 10 a.m. at St Augustine’s Church in New City with burial to follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
