Mary E. Sims

Mary Elizabeth Sims (née Toscano), 88, of Nanuet, New York, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.

Born in Manhattan on November 12, 1936, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph A.Toscano and Dorothy M. Toscano (née DiGuiseppi). She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert E. Sims, and her cherished granddaughter, Michelle Ross.

Mary's life was defined by love, faith, and family. She worked for many years as a stenographer at Equitable Life Insurance, where she was admired for her dedication and professionalism. A woman of many talents, Mary loved arts and crafts, knitting, and creating beautiful handmade gifts for her loved ones. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family, sharing laughter, stories, and simple joys.

She is survived by her loving children: Mary T. Babinec, Patricia A. Anderson, Robert J. Sims (Danielle), and Michael G. Sims (Leah). She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generous heart, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her warmth, creativity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

We will be celebrating and honoring Mary’s life on Wednesday, October 8th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, New York. A burial service will immediately follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, New York.
