Maureen McNeill of New City, New York passed away on October 6th , 2025. She was surrounded by family and friends,as she was her entire life. Maureen is survived by her husband, Michael, children, Brian McNeill(Maria) and Katie Solomon (Daniel), and grandchildren Carter Bennett and Quinn Reagan. She is also survived by her brother John Power (Mary) and sister Jane O’Brien (James).
Maureen’s next favorite role, after being a wife, mother and grandmother, was being a sister. She loved nothing more than spending time with her siblings, Jane and John. Their relationship was one to be treasured.
Maureen was the one true love her husband, Michael, ever knew. Theirs was a beautiful story of love at first sight. Even before they spoke, each told friends they had met the person they would marry. Just six weeks after their first conversation, they were engaged. Together, they shared 39 wonderful years of marriage – a love that remains eternal.
Maureen was the heart and soul of our family — our rock. Her presence was a gift to everyone who knew her, and it was
often said, “Every family needs a Maureen.” She had a remarkable ability to light up every room she entered, bringing warmth, joy, and a deep sense of love wherever she went. Maureen had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued, and one of the ways she shared that gift was through photography. Maureen quietly stood behind the camera, capturing the moments that would become the story of our lives. Though she may not appear in many of the photos, her presence is felt in every one. Maureen understood how fleeting life could be and made sure to preserve the love, the laughter, and the joy.
She was a devoted and nurturing mother and grandmother, whose love knew no bounds. From the moment Michael and Maureen learned she was expecting their first child, they made a promise: Maureen would stay home to raise their children, ensuring they were surrounded by her constant love, guidance, and care. She embraced that role with grace and passion, building a beautiful life and home for their family.
Maureen was a phenomenal mother — cherishing her “Little Man” Brian and her beloved “Katie Pooh,” Katie, with all her heart. When she became a grandmother, she took on the role of “Mimi” with the same love and devotion. Maureen was Mimi in the truest sense—her warmth and steady devotion filled Carter and Quinnie’s lives with joy. The laughter she brought into the home and the small, everyday moments she made sacred are memories we will always hold close.
Maureen’s love was boundless, her spirit unmatched, and her impact on our lives immeasurable. She was the kind of person who made everything better simply by being there — and we were all so lucky to call her ours.
