Worked with Maureen in Irish Echo. A lady, helpful and courteous. 

To Paul and family,
Maureen is a beautiful lady and will be greatly missed,
not just in New York, but also Dublin.
To think of all those early bird transatlantic flights,
and now, traveling light, no airports, no luggage, just a thought away.
After a tough time at the last, 
I hope now, Maureen rightfully, can be in A Better Place.

My sympathy to all Maureen's family. I worked with her for eight years in the Irish Echo. She was a true lady, courteous, helpful, generous, loved to have the chat. When our children came along she quietly gave me something for them for Christmas.  She liked things done properly, had great attention to detail and was a great ambassador for us Irish in U.S. as well as for the Irish Echo itself.  She was a person I am proud to have known and worked with. May she rest in peace.

Dear Paul, Maura, Paul, Catherine, Elizabeth & Michael,

I was so sorry to hear about Maureen’s passing on Saturday.

To describe Maureen as a force of nature would be a complete understatement.

For over five decades Maureen was the star that our planets revolved around, warming, protecting, forever encouraging and educating us on the important things in life.

Although your light may have dimmed your inspiration and strength will continue to power us on.

Even as a proud American citizen in a country you loved for over six decades its probably fair to say your heart was forever in Ireland and particularly in Tipperary. How we all looked forward to your visits every year and our Tripp to Tipp to visit our family and friends and experience their incredible hospitality.

Despite the bone deep sadness and the star sized vacuum that your loss leaves in our lives I think it only fair we should reflect with happiness on your fantastic 90 years, a wonderfully healthy life well lived and  filled with love, laughter, family, work colleagues in the Echo you loved, retail therapy and your extraordinary generosity.

As we came from stardust now you shall return to be reunited with your beloved Adrian for eternity.

Never was the old Irish saying more appropriate.

Ni bheidh a leitheid an aris.

Rest in peace my dear Aunt.

Saddened  beyond words that cousin Maureen is no longer with us.    While she lived in New  York she visited home as she called Ireland annually and often  twice annually.    Her trip to Tipp was one of the hi lights of her visits and we so looked  forward to her visits.  So many words come to mind to describe Maureen.  She was full of life and love for all her family especially her dearest husband Adrian, Paul and Maura  and her precious Grandchildren.   
She was caring, kind, generous and the very best of company and could talk on the affairs of the world and of course the GAA matches.  The Irish Echo was her career  and she truly loved  her job and the New  York way of life.  She had her take away coffees on her way to work before ever it became a way of life here.  She loved her shopping and  we all got presents from Macy’s and Lord and Taylor when she visited.  I treasure the lovely scarfs she has given me.  She kept in touch with cards and phone calls between her visits and that way she kept up with all the news. 
She loved her faith and St Patrick’s cathedral was a special place for her.  I will light candles in  Grenanstown Church  for you Maureen and may you get the best bed in heaven and “Coladh Samh “ Forever in our thought and prayers

Maureen was such a lovely person, and her passing makes me very sad. We worked together at the Irish Echo newspaper; I regarded Maureen as the chief copy editor of the paper, and her mind was the sharpest, her eye the beadiest of anyone I have ever worked with on either side of the Atlantic. I learned so much from Maureen about New York, and the Irish-American experience and community in that great city. I am certain that she is already in Heaven looking over us, and take comfort from that, and happiness from my memories of her. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

A real lady who loved her native Dublin and adored the love of her life, her husband Adrian.
