Michael Lawlor

Michael P. Lawlor passed away on July 26, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Josenia; cherished father of Meghan and Ryan; beloved son of the late Rita Lawlor (April 3, 1970) and cherished son of Eileen and the late Robert V. Hamilton (April 12, 2005); dearest brother of Christine and Lee Davies and Brian Shanahan. Michael is also survived by his adored nieces and nephews Shannon, Casey, Ashlee, Haylee, James and Bobby. Michael is predeceased by his beloved older brother, James T. Shanahan (July 17, 2011) and by his maternal grandparents, Bridget (Mama) and Thomas Colleran. Michael was born on May 9, 1966 in the Bronx, NY and lived most of his life in Rockland County. He graduated from North Rockland High School in 1984 and attended Rockland Community College as well as Mercy College. He was an avid Mets, Knicks and Steelers Fan. Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father, son and brother whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He enjoyed golfing and attending Mets games at Citi Field with his wife and children. Michael joined the White Plains Police Department in January 1988 and worked on patrol and in the traffic unit. He then retired after 16 years on the force in September 2004. Family may receive friends on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10am at St. Paul's Church followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
