Patrick J. Rooney

February 22, 1936 – February 21, 2022

Patrick “Joe” Rooney, formerly of New City, NY, peacefully passed away at the age of 85. Patrick was the son of the late Patrick “Paddy” and Marie (Cunningham) Rooney of Donaghmoyne, Carrickmacross, Ireland. He was predeceased by his son Patrick E. Rooney of New City, NY, his brothers Liam and

Brian Rooney of Ireland, and his sister Kathleen “Kitty” Bachorik of Highland Mills, NY.

Patrick is sadly missed and remembered by his wife of 61 years, Annie “Nancy” (Keegan) Rooney, daughter Linda, son Brian, daughter-in-law Darcie, brothers Tony, Tom, Noel, and Brendan, sisters Sr. Christina, Anne, Philomena and Margaret. He leaves behind his granddaughters Jacqueline, Kassandra, Victoria, Jessica, and Shay. Patrick missed the birth of his first great-grandchild, Adrienne, who was born on his birthday February 22, 2022. Patrick also leaves behind his Godchildren Colleen, Christine, Damien, and Shay as well as several brother-in- laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends here in America, in Ireland and abroad.

A memorial visitation for Patrick will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 S Main St, New City, New York 10956. Following the memorial visitation will be a Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Church, 140 Maple Ave., New City, NY.
