Reed Mathieu, 75, of West Nyack, New York, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025. Born on October 31, 1950, in Mount Vernon, New York, Reed lived a life defined by love, loyalty, and an unwavering devotion to family.
Reed is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his daughter, Ariana, who was the light of his life; his brother, Kenny, and sister-in-law, Dale; and his niece, Sara, and her husband, Andy. Though his own family was small, having lost many loved ones early in life, Reed cherished every moment with those who remained and built a family filled with warmth and connection.
A true New Yorker at heart, Reed was a passionate sports fan who lived and breathed for his New York Rangers and Yankees. Whether celebrating victories or weathering defeats, his loyalty never wavered—much like his devotion to the people he loved.
Reed was a man with a big heart of gold who gave all he had to give. He saw the best in others and found beauty in ordinary moments. He had a gift for making people feel valued and loved, and those who knew him will never forget the way he made them feel. His laughter was infectious, his kindness genuine, and his spirit unforgettable.
Reed carried with him the memory of loved ones who passed too soon, and the joy of being reunited with them brought him comfort. Now at peace, Reed is free from pain and his spirit lives on in all who loved him.
Though he has left this world, Reed's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His spirit, his character, and his generous heart will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Reed by doing what he did best—making someone feel loved and valued.
