

Robert Aloysius McCrudden passed away on June 10, 2017, at the age of 92 at Sunrise of Old Tappan. Robert was born on October 15, 1924 in the Bronx to James and Mary McCrudden. He lived on 183rd St. and Tremont St. Following his high school graduation, Robert enlisted in the Navy on July 24, 1943 and served on the USS Fowler Ship 222. He was honorable discharged on April 7, 1946 and was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and European Theater Medal. He married Helen Teresa Cull on September 2, 1950. In 1959, Robert and Helen moved to Rockland County where they lived in New City for 37 years and Jackson, NJ for the next 17 years. He lived out his final years in Westwood, NJ. Robert worked for the court system of the City of New York for over 33 years as a Court Officer. He also worked part time on the crew at Radio City Music Hall for many years. Robert volunteered as a guard every year on the Grandstand at the St. Patrick’s Day parade. He also coached boys T-ball Baseball League in Clarkstown. Robert was active in St. Augustine’s Church in New City where he ushered on Sundays. He was also a member of the VFW. Robert was known for his skills in sports, including baseball, basketball and pin pong, as well as card playing. He was a great organizer and spoke at many events. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Helen McCrudden, his six children; Robert Jr. (Barbara Oro), Mary (Michael) Cotter, Steven, Michael (Karen Burke), Diane (Donald) O’Brien and Barbara (Glenn) Mansfield, grandchildren; Jennifer (Phillip) Milidantri, Christina (John) Madigan, James (Jennifer) Cotter, Sean (Debra) Cotter, Robert, Kaitlyn and Michael McCrudden, Samantha, Nicole and Amanda O’Brien, and Melissa, Ryan and Kristen Mansfield, great-grandchildren, Austin, Julianna, Ella and Callen Milidantri, Shannon, Megan and Grace Madigan, Mikey, Julie and Maddie Cotter, and Mary, Noelle, Scarlett and Savannah Cotter.
The McCrudden family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 4-7pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Services, New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at St. Augustine’s Church, New City at 10am. Burial will follow at the Frederick W. Loescher Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, New Hempstead. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert A.
