

Robert A. Mecchella passed away peacefully on January 26th, 2015 after spending his final days surrounded by his family. Robert was born in 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John Mecchella and Anna Pascone. At the age of 20 Robert met Grace, his one and only true love and they married in the fall of 1947. Together they raised five children before moving to Congers, NY in 1968.
Second to his love for his family was Robert’s love for his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a First Class Fireman on an LST in the Atlantic, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Robert was a successful businessman and in 1973 founded Technical Traffic Consultants which is now celebrating its 41st year in business. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Church where he served on the parish council and as a Eucharistic minister and lector. After retiring in 1998 Robert filled his days by traveling with his wife, enjoying Lake St. Catherine, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and perfecting his golf swing.
He is predeceased by his wife Grace, son Robert M., and brother John. He is survived by his sister Vivian Capogrosso (Eugene), his children Marianne Duggan (Patrick), John Mecchella (Nancy), Christine Flores (Richard), Carolyn Clifford (Billy), his 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Family will receive visitors on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., New City. Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday 11am St. Paul’s Church, Congers, NY followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery.
