

Rosalia Guagenti, 88, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 24, 2026. Born February 1, 1938, in Marineo, (Provence Palermo) Sicily, Rosalia immigrated to the United States aboard "The Roma" in 1953. After arriving in America, she worked as a seamstress and met the love of her life, Vito. Together they achieved the American Dream, raising two children, Gina and Alfonso, and opening a successful bakery in Jackson Heights, Queens. Their journey eventually led them to Congers in Rockland County, where they owned and operated a successful produce distribution business. Rosalia's caring and generous spirit led her to carry out volunteer work at Helen Hayes Hospital which she deeply enjoyed.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was everything to Rosalia. She made every holiday, birthday, and Sunday dinner special with her unparalleled cooking and decorating.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Gina and son Alfonso; son-in-law Charlie and daughter-in-law Helen; adoring grandchildren Liana (Michael), Vito (Christina), Lisa (Michael), Rosalie (Joseph), Krista (Vincent), Michael, and Salvatore Vito; great-grandchildren John Vito, Nicholas, Mia Rose, Joseph, Gunnar, Sabrina, Julia, Gianna, Jack, and Vincent; brother Cosmo; sister Mary; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Vito; her parents, Antonina and Peter Sanicola; and her beloved sister, Frances. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, US, on March 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. Francis of Assisi's Church, 128 Parrott Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994, on March 31, 2026, at 10:00 am. A Committal Service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, US, on March 31, 2026.
