Rosario Joseph Calogero, aka "Butch" or "Sal" of New City passed away on January 27, 2017, he was 85 years old. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 21, 1931. He was a self-starting business man who owned a Texaco Gas Station, a hobby store, food truck, and later worked at Mercedes Benz for over 20 years pioneering their roadside assistance program. During his leisure time he was an avid radio control airplane enthusiast. He was also an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, as well as an officer in the New City Senior Citizen's Club.
He is survived by his wife Marie, his daughter Debra and her husband Donald, his son Steven, his daughter Diane and her husband Dan, and his daughter Linda and her husband Kevin. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Steven Jr., Kristina, Danielle, Nicholas, Kimberly, Christopher, and Elizabeth.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, January 29 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City from 2-6pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 30 at St. Augustine Church in New City at 11:15am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
