Rudolph J. Recla

Rudolph J. (Rudy) Recla, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 30, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., grew up in the Bronx before moving to Valley Cottage where he spent the past 60 years. He was the son of Joseph and Stephanie Recla. He was the beloved husband of Carol, the cherished and ever-loving father of Robert, Peter, Kristina and husband James Howell, Adrienne Calderone and husband Anthony, Craig and wife Michelle. He was the loved, adored, and proud grandfather of Anthony & Christopher Calderone; Joseph, Ava & Alia Recla. Rudy was a devoted brother to his sisters; Carole Winter (Richard) and survived by sister Barbara DiMarsico, brothers-in-law Michael DiMarsico, Paul Shewairy, and sister-in-law Nancy Shewairy, and many loving nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Family was his pride and joy.

He was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York where he met and married the love of his life Carol on April 8, 1961. Rudy was an avid sports fan, and coach who loved the Yankees, Giants and Knicks. Golf was his passion having been a founding member of Minisceongo Golf Club.

Rudy was a faithful parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He touched so many people with his kindness and big heart. Rudy’s presence was larger than life and will be missed by all.
