Sigmund Otto Jacobsen

Sigmund Otto Jacobsen of Suffern NY, passed away peacefully at 94 years old on December 18th 2021. Sigmund was a lifelong resident of Rockland County born November 28th 1927 in Kristiansand Norway. Sigmund was a master in cabinetmaking in Norway and immigrated to America in 1950. There in Brooklyn NY he married his wife, Patricia in 1954 and moved up to Rockland County. He operated a successful home framing business with his Norwegian carpenters and later expanded into creating and owning is own home building corporation, Patricia Ann Homes Inc. He was a pioneer and risk taker in making larger homes and developments that became the new trend in Rockland County. Sig, aka Ziggy, Grampy Sig, loved the great outdoors, and especially the Adirondacks where he met the love of his life, Pat, at a Christian youth group in Lake Placid. The devoted Christian husband and father lived his life with Christ at the center and everyone who knew him clearly saw that. His constant example and faithful devotions, influenced everyone whom he met. His positive attitude was evident whenever he met people like in a grocery store, he would say “keep up the good work” and completely make their day. As a businessman, there was only one way to do a job and that was the “right way”. “No use complaining and we have to take it as it comes”, were common responses to tough situations. He always kept God first, and his life, was full, long and full of blessings.

He leaves behind daughter Mary Ann Olson (fiancé Tim), Ruth Ann Woodbridge (husband George) and son Lars Jacobsen (wife Patricia). He also has 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren in addition several nieces and nephews in Norway and America. He is also survived by his sister Ruth, residing in Norway

On Wednesday, December 22nd, there will be a visitation at 10 a.m. at Park Evangelical Free Church at 4 Roosevelt Place, New City, NY followed by a service at 11:00 o'clock, preceding the graveside service.
