

Simone Alicia Edouard was born on January 6, 2001, to Barbara Dorvelus and Kervin Edouard in Nyack, New York. On Saturday, December 27, 2025, Simone sadly passed away at the age of 24 at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, New York.
A lifelong resident of Spring Valley, New York, Simone attended the East Ramapo Central School District and graduated from Ramapo Senior High School in 2019. During her time there, she proudly participated in and graduated from the Ramapo Police Youth Academy. She also attended BOCES, where she studied Culinary Arts and earned multiple certifications, including ProStart Certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
After high school, Simone continued her education at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, then at the State University of New York at Albany, and ultimately at Berkeley College in New York City. In 2023, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies with a concentration in Criminal Justice. Looking ahead to a career in law enforcement, Simone recently passed the Rockland County Police examination. Her ultimate goal was to become a lawyer, and she had begun studying for the LSAT, driven by her strong sense of justice and desire to serve others.
Simone was a strong, honest, ambitious, and deeply determined young woman who embraced life with purpose and passion. Naturally driven and highly organized, she took pride in setting goals and working diligently to achieve them. She believed in doing things the right way and held herself to high standards—true reflections of her integrity and inner strength.
She had a joyful spirit and a contagious laugh. Simone loved to laugh and found genuine happiness in making others laugh, often bringing warmth and light into every room she entered. Her sense of humor and positive energy made people feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued.
Family and friends meant everything to Simone. She treasured time spent with those she loved most, especially her younger sister, Averi; her many cousins; and her close circle of friends. Her beloved Labrador Retriever, Sadie, brought her constant joy and comfort. Whether during celebrations or quiet moments, Simone deeply valued togetherness and connection.
Simone also loved food and experiences that brought people together. She enjoyed cooking, experimenting with new dishes, dining out at different restaurants, and sharing those moments with others. One of her simplest pleasures was ice cream, which never failed to bring a smile to her face.
Simone will be remembered for her strength, determination, laughter, and the love she so freely gave. Her spirit lives on through the many lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind.
Simone was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal great grandmothers, Simone Occena, Aline Dorvelus, and Marie F. Edouard, and her maternal and paternal great-grandfathers, Clemente Paulin and Andrew Gariche Lubin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Christian Isaiah, and his father, Jahvon; her mother, Barbara Dorvelus; her father, Kervin Edouard; her younger sister, Averi; her grandmothers, Bertha and Maude; her grandfathers, Wesner and Serge; her paternal great-grandmother, Lydie Lubin; her uncles Derrick and wife Patricia, Woodley, and Scott; her aunts Peggy and Aline; her cousins Camden, Samantha, Adam, Ethan, Scott Jr., Sovanna, Lydia, and Jahsaan; and her beloved dog, Sadie.
Simone also leaves behind a host of extended family members, friends, and a community who loved her dearly.
A visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on January 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The funeral service will take place at The Church of St. Joseph, 245 N Main St, Spring Valley, NY10977, on January 10, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.The committal service will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, on January 10, 2026, at 11:00 am.
