Sonia & William Fernandez

The wish of William and Sonia Fernandez to be laid to rest together in their final earthly resting place will be fulfilled on May 24, 2025.

William was born in Esperanza Las Villas, Cuba, on June 25, 1935, and passed away peacefully at his home in Florida on August 17, 2012. Sonia was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, on February 13, 1936, and also passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2025.

Their memory is lovingly cherished by their children: Elizabeth Perez and her husband Ivan, Evelyn Kayser and her husband John, William II Fernandez and his wife Amy. Their greatest joy was their family.

They were proud and devoted grandparents to: Ivania McCaffrey and her husband Michael, John Kayser and his wife Tara, Ilyssa Perez-Pexa and her husband Phillip, Kassandra Florio and her husband Antonio, Abigail Fernandez, Ben Fernandez. Their legacy continues through their beloved great-grandchildren: Mia McCaffrey, Logan Kayser, Ella Pexa, and Lily Kayser.

William and Sonia are also lovingly remembered by Sonia’s siblings, Carmen Piñero and Carlos Sosa, as well as William’s sister Margot and brother Rene Fernandez. They are also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives they touched.

Their lives were a beautiful testament to devotion, kindness, and resilience. They left an indelible mark on all who knew them and a legacy of love, strength, and enduring family values that will live on for generations.

A Mass in their honor will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, NY, on May 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed immediately by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
