

Thomas K. Chacko passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025. He was born on March 18, 1948 in Kollad, Kottayam in Kerala, India. He was the son of the late Mr. Kunnel Ittyipe Chacko, a respected school principal, and the late Mrs. Annamma Chacko. He was the youngest of 6 siblings: Mary Mathew (Canada), K.C. George (Bhilai, India), Pennamma Cherian (Kollad, India), K.C. Jacob (Kollad, India), and K.C. Alexander (Canada).
Thomas married Achamma Thomas in 1975 and started a beautiful life together in New Delhi, India. Thomas migrated to the United States in 1982 where his wife was working as a nurse. Together, they were blessed with a daughter, Gincy who was the light of their lives.
He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, and his loving wife who he missed dearly. He is survived by his daughter Gincy, son-in-law Michael, grandson River who he affectionately called Manikuttan, brother-in-law Chandy (Cheeranchira, Kerala), and niece Reela Kurian (Long Island, NY) among several nieces and nephews in Kerala, India, Bhilai, and Canada. He also leaves behind several grandnieces and grandnephews who affectionately called him Appachen (grandfather); whom he loved as his grandchildren.
Thomas will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and remarkable resilience. He was deeply devoted to his family, friends, and Church, and he worked tirelessly throughout his life. He was known for his selflessness and never hesitated to help someone in need.
A man of many passions, Thomas was creative by nature. He had a great love for cooking and took immense joy in feeding others. His meticulously cared-for garden was his pride and joy, and he generously shared his harvest with family and friends. He enjoyed playing games, particularly solitaire and enjoyed the wonders of nature. He was cherished for his wonderful sense of humor and always lit up a room with his jokes, laughter and smile. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY, 10956, on October 28, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral mass is scheduled for October 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at St. Mary's Orthodox Church of Bronx, situated at 360 Bedford Park Blvd, New York, NY, 10458.
The burial will take place on October 29, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Gethsemane Cemetery, located on Rockland Lake Rd, Congers, NY, 10920.
