
Thomas J. Murray of Pearl River passed away suddenly on July 20, 2011. Tommy was born December 1, 1968. He was raised in Pearl River, and graduated from Pearl River High School in 1987. After graduation Tommy became a New York City police officer and went on to be a narcotics detective. After retiring from the job he loved, he soon met the love of his life, Tina Martorana. They married in 2001 and were blessed with three wonderful children: Deanna, Joseph and Alyssa. Tommy's family was everything to him. He adored his wife and children. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, son and son-in-law. Tommy is survived by his mother, Janice Asaro, and step-father Wayne Asaro, father Thomas Murray, mother-in-law Rose Martorana, father-in-law Sonny Martarano, brother Robert Murray (Maria), brother Brian Murray and sister Caitlin Murray. Uncle Tommy will be deeply missed by his eleven nieces and nephews. His family and friends will remember great poolside barbecues and camping trips. Calling hours are Sunday, July 24 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 Main Street, New City, NY. A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:30 am at St. Aedans Church, 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a college fund for Tommy's three children.
