

William Edward Lyver went home to God on Friday January 17, 2014. Ed was born a Yankee fan in the Bronx, NY on June 1, 1930 to James and Sarah (Gillespie) Lyver. Ed served his country proudly as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. He married Eileen (Keys) on May 14, 1955. They shared 58 years of love. They moved to New City in 1960. Ed worked for MABSTOA as a driver and dispatcher and continued his career as chief dispatcher for TRIPS of Rockland County until his retirement in November of 2002. Ed was a member of the Holy Name Society at St Augustine's. He was a church usher for many years and proudly served as a sacristan at the 9 am mass. Ed coached Little League in New City for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post 329 in Pearl River. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh. Ed is survived by his loving wife Eileen, his son Daniel of Suffern, NY, his daughters Mary Eileen (Michael) Dinet of Pearl River, NY and Deborah (Thomas) Nally of Perrineville, NJ. He will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren Michael and Kaitlin Dinet. Ed is also survived by his brother Donald Lyver of Pearl River, NY, sisters and brothers in law Eileen Lyver, Bernadette Lyver, Barbara and Barry Hall and Margaret and John Boyle. He will be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sister Mary and her husband Charles Pallman and brothers Gene and wife Dorothy, Jack and Tom.Family will receive visitors on Sunday from 6-9pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc, New City, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Tuesday 10am at St. Augustine's Church. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, family is asking that donations in Ed's name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
