

William N. O’Shea of Pearl River, New York, passed away peacefully, at his home, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the age of 82. Bill was born in Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, Ireland and is formerly of the Bronx. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary O’Shea (nee Murphy). He is predeceased by his daughter Kathleen O’Shea, grandson Jimmy Hauburger and granddaughter baby Jacqueline Wood. Bill is also survived by his children: Noreen (Gene) Hauburger, Bill (Bernadette) O’Shea, Ann Marie (Keith) Tromer, John (Donna) O’Shea and Mary Ann Wood and his fourteen very loved grandchildren: Anthony, Lauren, Billy Jr., Amanda, Brendan, Finuala, Natalie, Erin, Ashley, Kelly, Brianna, Aidan, Chloe and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his sister Eileen O’Shea Sparling of Newark, Delaware and his brother Joe O’Shea of Birmingham, England in additions to many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill served in the US Army and worked for the NYC Department of Parks for 25 years. Bill was quiet, hard-working and well known for the family tree business (Abbey Tree Service) which he started and ran for over 40 years to help support his family.
Bill’s family would like to thank all the caregivers that have come into his life over the past few years for their compassion and assistance.
Visiting will be Friday, June 2, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at St. Aedan’s Church, 23 S. Reld Drive, Pearl River, New York. Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, New York 10956 or your local U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
