My sweet old friend from our nursing life together at Abbott Northwestern.  You made me laugh.  You made me cry.  I cherished our friendship and I will think of you lovingly.

We got the honor of living with nana and our Mia and I will hold on to those endless memories. Nana was the most honest person in the ways you needed. She was there for me through many ups and many downs in indescribable ways throughout these years. Nana always gave the best spur of the moment gifts (including all my pjs). She had so much joy cooking for Jordan and I, and I will never forget watching Ellen every single day! (Even the reruns). Our nana was truly one of a kind and I know things will never be the same, but we have our family to lean on, and to share memories.... For that I will be forever thankful. Rest in paradise Angel!!! We love you and thank you for everything you’ve ever done for us.

August 28, 2020 We lost an absolute irreplaceable pillar in my family,  My Nana Bear <3

Words can't even begin to describe the emotional roller coaster of confusion, hurt, anger, and pain!  I wasn't ready to lose her and I'm still not ready to say goodbye!!  Nana will always be remembered as a beacon of light, such a joy, delightful, full of spunk, lil bit of sass but absolutely genuine, truly generous, caring, loving and without a doubt one of a kind woman!  She never saw race color or disabilities.  She always loved my grandpa, a strong black man and gave birth to my beautiful mother Dionne Hawthorne, and the legacy began!  Nana opened her home to many MANY people and accepted them right where they were at.   Everyone knows Nana can cook and no matter what the situation she would always offer you a bite to eat.   She's definitely touched a lot of people's lives.   If you know anyone of my family members then you'll remember my Nana!!  Being gone and doing this time only adds to the helplessness I feel.   I wanna be there for my family,  for my momma dad brothers but I can't.   This hurts and I need my family.   I'm doing the best I can but I ask to please please send them your prayers and love...I love you Nana may you Rest In Paradise watching over us and be in peace.   God please watch over all of us and protect us during this chaotic time...I ask that you give us strength to find a way to carry on!!

Always & Forever

I loved her so much. She was such a wonderful woman. Always easy going and caring.  Such an awesome soul. She always made me feel so comfortable to speak with. I always looked forward to visiting my family cause I knew I would have time to spend with Nana. Heaven is getting a lot better now that she is there. Say hello to my mom, step dad, grandma, grandpa and aunts  and uncles and my gone too soon cousin for me. Till we meet again Nana. I love you. 

Your mother was in my life since birth. There are no words to tell you. How sorry we are for your loss. Cheryl will be deeply missed by us all. I wish all of you LOVE , PEACE and STRENGTH during this time. She will never be forgotten. The only good thing is, she is with those who have left us and we must wait to see them in heaven. She is survived by her one-and-only loving daughter, Dionne Marie and her favorite son-in-law (one-and-only) Jeffrey Hawthorne; grandsons, Travis Adams, and Jordan Adams, Josh, Jake, Jesse Hawthorne; great granddaughter, Aylah; loving sister, Donna (Gary) Schmidt; nephew, Cory Schmidt, and many extended family and friends
