It is with profound sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the unexpected passing of our 19-year-old son, Jonah Matthew Stichter. He was a beautiful, loving soul who grew into a gentle and sensitive young man. Jonah had a deep love for his family and friends and cherished the time we spent together. He was a wonderful conversationalist who could always make one think, laugh, and feel that they’d been heard.
Lately Jonah was working very hard on his sobriety, personal resilience, and overall health and was determined to find a career that would ignite his passion. He loved music and dreamed of becoming a singer and music producer. His artistic soul was further reflected in his enjoyment of movies, anime, books, travel, and fashion. Jonah was also deeply engaged with the issues and challenges facing our society, embracing compassion and valuing a strong sense of justice. We will remember him most for his infectious smile and his unique spirit that shone in everything he did. He was proud of his uniqueness and was always striving to be true to his individuality.
His sudden death, the tragic result of drug poisoning, has left countless hearts broken. We fought alongside him for many years, loving him unconditionally as he battled with mental health and addiction. Ultimately, God took him home, offering Jonah relief from the pain he endured daily. We are still in utter disbelief that our beautiful son Jonah has left this earth.
My heart aches as I long for the day when I will see him again, but believe I can hear him saying, "Mom, I’m so sorry, but I’m okay now.”
Please hold Jonah in your heart with us.
Jonah was the beloved son of Patrick Stichter and Laura Martin and step-dad, Vince Martin. He was deeply loved by his sister Paige Stichter and brother Jackson Stichter. Jonah was cherished by his grandparents Kathy and Lew Stichter and Shirley and Larry Weinzetl. Jonah will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
We will celebrate Jonah’s life Friday July 18, 2025 at Pique Travel and Event Center in Excelsior, MN. Open house begins at 5PM with service at 6PM, followed by a casual reception. Please join us to laugh, cry, share, and remember.
