He was preceded in death by his Parents; two Sisters; and two Brothers.
He is Survived by, Eve, his wife of 68 years; his Brother, Dennis; Children, Paul (Teri) Koppie, Steve (Janet Havlish) Koppie, Deb (Mark) Bouley, Lisa Duncan, and Lori Koppie; 13 Grandchildren (Melissa, Patrick, Kristopher, Jillian, Bryan, Bryssa, Noah, Grace, Amanda, Andrew, Arica, Alexander, and Sean); and 11 Great-grandchildren (Alexis, Aidan, Julian, Addison, Joseph, Roxy, Trace, Jamin, Violet, Leo and Treyshon)
Paul worked for the city of Minneapolis Public Works for 42 years in a variety of professions, the last as the foreman in the Water Meter Repair Department. After retiring from the City of Minneapolis Public Works, he worked for an additional 15 years for the Columbia Heights Water Dept. Paul was a member of Plumbers Union No. 15 and the American Legion.
Paul was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa and subsequently moved to Minneapolis with his family. He served in the Army Air Force for three years and earned the World War II Victory Medal. Paul’s interests included fishing, camping, bowling, and traveling with Eve. He bowled his last game just 6 months ago. His special love was his family and friends. Whenever you saw Paul, he had a big smile on his face. He enjoyed people and the friendships they had. He was truly happy when he was with people.
A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, August 12th, 5-7 PM, at the Kapala Glodek Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Rd, New Hope. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 13th, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 5155 Emerson Ave N, Minneapolis. The Interment will be on September 14th, at 2:00 PM, at the Fort Snelling National. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
