Albert was called home on January 12, 2025, at the age of 71. Albert was born to Albert Andre Burke, Sr and Tena Junta Burke in New Orleans on March 25, 1953.
Albert’s legendary personality touched everyone he met. His smile was infectious to anyone who came in contact with him. There wasn’t a day that went by that he wasn’t willing to help anyone. Albert was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and astonishing sense of humor. He will be remembered for the beautiful soul he shared with his family, friends, and coworkers. He truly loved each and every one of them and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, faith, and full of love for those who went before him. His faith in God was unwavering. He felt truly blessed to serve God as a Eucharistic minister. He will be missed dearly. His warmth, generosity, smile, and sense of humor will be everlasting.
After graduating NISH in 1973, he joined and served in the National Guard for 8 years. After his enlistment he went to work in the Oil Industry for Texaco for several years, later merging with Chevron for a total of 25 years. He later joined the consulting industry for the remainder of his career, at Paloma Energy and RCI located in Houston, Texas. There was nothing more important to Albert than spending his time with his family. He was an avid supporter of LSU sports, especially football.
Albert is survived and missed by his wife and best friend whom he adored for over 38 years, Stacie Landry Burke, one son, Kyle Meche; one daughter, Kaci Lassalle, and husband Mark, and his four loving grandchildren whom he treasured more than anything, Briekyn Meche, EMN3 of Charleston, South Carolina, Mark Lassalle, III, Mason Lassalle, and Lynleigh Lassalle all of New Iberia; and one sister, Gail Morvant.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Tena Burke, his sister, Renee Burke, and his in-laws, Norman and Mary Lynn Landry.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Keith Landry will officiate. Albert will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Chris Doumit at 10:00 am.
