Barbara Romero Dugas

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Lawrence E. Dugas, the former, Barbara Romero, age 82, at 10:00 am Monday August 15, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.

Barbara enjoyed going to the Casino and playing pokeno. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas passed away on Friday August 12, 2011 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. “Shine” Dugas of Loreauville; sons, Blaine Dugas and Sandy Dugas of Loreauville, Todd Dugas of Breaux Bridge; daughter, Mellisa D. Bowers of Lafayette; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Renee Dugas; parents, Alex and Agnes Schexnayder Romero; brothers, Alex Romero, Jr. and Roy Romero; and sister, Gloria R. Estes.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justin Dugas, Logan Bowers, Corey Bowers, Dexter Dugas, Casey Dugas, and Kelly Dugas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Laine Judice, Ashley Bowers, Amy Dugas, and Amber Dugas.
