

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be celebrated for Darrell J. LeBlanc, age 67, at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary at 6:30. Visiting will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 am until services.
Darrell was born August 19, 1946 in New Iberia to the late Robert J. LeBlanc and Florence Trahan LeBlanc. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Dauterive Hospital.
Darrell was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Cameron with 36 years of loyal service and was a member of the American Legion Post 4 and Woodmen of the World Chapter 34. His favorite pastime was fishing. Darrell was a generous and kind man who gave of himself when needed. His family meant the world to him and he cherished the time spent with them. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda Broussard LeBlanc of New Iberia; his children, Angie Romero and husband Alan of Avery Island, Bret LeBlanc and girlfriend Jenny Deshotel of New Iberia; his granddaughter whom he adored, Tori Rae Romero; his sisters, Faye Hunter and husband Mike of New Iberia, and Judy Richard and husband Danny of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bret LeBlanc, Alan Romero, Robie Hunter, Mark Dupre, Jed Meche and Donovan Miller. Honorary pallbearers are his longtime friends, Lynn Oubre, Ralph Bender, Joe Romero, Ernie Russo, Larry Broussard, John Elridge, Glenn Broussard, and Richard Pellerin.
