

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Edward Charles “ Boot’em” Broussard, age 89, at 11:00 am Monday, December 19, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Mike Arnaud officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors by VFW Post #1982.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard passed away at 5:39 am on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Broussard was a graduate of New Iberia High School and S.L.I., (now UL). He served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII as First Lieutenant, Captain, then served as Company Commander of the “Old Hickory Division” and was awarded the Silver and Bronze Stars. He worked for ENTEX, formerly United Gas for 36 years. He was an avid gardener and involved in various civic organizations. After retirement, he was actively involved in the Sr. Olympics for many years, winning many medals.
He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Michael C. Broussard of Gulf Shores, AL; Joanne B. Mills and husband Jack and Brenda B. LaBorde and husband Pat of Lafayette; Steven A. Chambers and wife Leta; Scott J. Chambers and wife Connie; Sandy C. Gachassin and Christine C. Hulin and husband William “Bill” all of New Iberia; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Harvey (Waldean) B. Broussard of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Queever Breaux Chambers Broussard; parents, Earnest and Ouida B. Broussard and one brother, Claude J. Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Michael Broussard, Jack Mills, Brad Mills, Scott Chambers, Steve Chambers and Bill Hulin. Reader will be Pat LaBorde.
