A native and resident of New Iberia, E’milie passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. E'milie was born May 1, 1999 in Lafayette to Kristin Lasseigne Labbe' and the late Matthew James Labbe'.
E’milie Anne Labbe’ was 19 years old and graduated from New Iberia Senior High School. E’milie was a beautiful, young woman with thick brown hair, curly and unruly, possessing a certain determined personality and was not easily swayed or impressed. Generously, E’milie shared her thick, luxurious mane on several occasions with Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides free custom hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada.
A compact, active young woman, she was an accomplished athlete playing team soccer for 12 years. These included CHS Junior High, CHS High school, and also travel team soccer. This was the highlight of her life, even making it to state play offs.
E’milie, a helpful and kind spirit, excelled in school and planned to go into a field in the medical industry. During the summers, she worked with children in the Summer Programs at St. Edwards’s Catholic School in New Iberia. She dedicated her efforts speaking clearly for children who were “different” and spent time with them, specifically to reinforce that “different” was to be celebrated.
Totally canaille or playful, she often played jokes on family and friends, laughing catching them off guard in a prank or comment. He dark eyes twinkled, and her laugh was big and deep emitting from her depths. Her sense of humor was large!
E’milie had a deep love of animals and nature. Dakota, or “Koda” – a shepherd- became her constant companion. They took trips to the horse farm together and often visited Doc Andy Reaux’s beautiful acreage in New Iberia. E’milie loved the mountains, the Ozarks were her favorite, and she and “Koda” often adventured there with friends. As a child she helped in her grandmother’s garden and caught fireflies with her cousins. Small creatures both ladybugs and lizards did not go unnoticed in E’milie’s world.
In the last year, the loss of her father, Matthew, and her beloved “Poppy”, Ronald Lasseigne – her grandfather, were difficult life events for her. These recent losses and many personal struggles proved to be very difficult. We deeply mourn her loss and her lively spirit as we knew her best.
God rest, sweet E’milie, beloved granddaughter, daughter, cousin, niece, and friends. We will hold you in our hearts as long as we live, until we meet again.

Guillotte; uncle & godfather, Guy Labbe' and wife Althea; aunts, Chere' Doiron and husband John Day; Hassie Breaux and husband Chad; cousins, Shelby Guillotte, Kyrstyn Guillotte, Monica Borel, Andre Doiron, Pierre Doiron, Ben Labbe', Kathleen Blank, Annie Cavanaugh, Dustin Fuselier, Barron Breaux, Courtney Breaux and Caitlyn Breaux.
