Glen Andrew Picard, a native of New Iberia and longtime resident of Gonzales, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 59.
Glen was born on March 29, 1966, to the late Willday J. Picard and the late Therese Theriot Picard, one of seven children born to that union. He was raised in a family steeped in Cajun heritage and instilled with the values of honest work and kindness toward others. As a young boy, Glen and his brothers worked alongside their father helping around the house. During those formative years, Glen’s father taught him the art of welding and fitting—skills that would prove invaluable, as Glen went on to build a lifelong career in the fabrication industry. He worked with Volks Constructors in Prairieville for 30 years, lending his knowledge, skill, and expertise to the company.
Outside of his career, Glen was a man who truly lived to be with family and friends. Known affectionately as the life of the party, Glen brought fun and laughter to every gathering—often accompanied by his favorite ice-cold beer, Bud Light. His family fondly reminisces about his cooking and the many meals shared together. No matter the location, Glen naturally assumed the role of chef, grill master, and seafood boiler. Anyone invited to share a meal with Glen and his family left well-fed and happy.
Another favorite pastime of Glen’s was building custom grills and fire pits. As a master welder, he often crafted long-lasting grills and pits adorned with his favorite logos, including LSU, the fleur-de-lis, and other symbols of his heritage. He found great joy in seeing the happiness these creations brought to others.
Glen also had a deep passion for sports, NASCAR, and especially his LSU Fighting Tigers. A die-hard fan, he bled purple and gold, faithfully supporting the Tigers through wins and losses alike.
Above all, Glen gave his life to family and friends. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him until they meet again in the heavens above. Until that day, Glen, may your soul—and the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God—rest in peace.
Those left to cherish his memory are his twin sons, Eric Picard and Dustin Picard; his grandchildren, Britin, Rylan, Klarke, Presley, and Berkley Picard, and Connor Bradley and Amryn Orgeron; his brothers and sisters, Gene M. Picard (Cynthia), Vernon Picard (Kate), Clay Picard (Vonnie), Cindy P. Myers (Armand, Jr.), and Julie P. Briley (Brian); his former spouse and dear friend, Rebecca “Becky” Picard; his stepdaughter, Toni Orgeron (John Marshall); his Godchild, Hallie Picard; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Willday and Therese Picard; his wife, Kimberly Picard; his stepfather, George Peltier, Sr.; his sister, Ellen P. Hebert and her husband, Kerry
